Font nerd.

I'm a total font nerd.

It all started at my previous record store job - lots of designing signage, flyers, the occassional print ad... I became a font snob too... when I see a billboard or sign that uses Comic Sans, I immediately think that somebody's kid made the sign - only because no self respecting graphic designer would ever use such an elementary font...

Then came Helvetica

Have you seen it? It can transform your font snobbery into a full blown font elitism... such an amazing film about something so simple that we see and read everyday and everywhere.

Saw this cool toy over at How About Orange and thought I should share it with you guys!

The Great Art of Compromise...

My husband and I met almost 10 years ago when we were both working at the same record store.

He's still there... luckily, I've been paroled... so, our conversations have transitioned from face to face to the wonderful world of text messaging...

The record store is closing down the video store portion of their business - everything has to go... which includes all the movie candy... which spawned this particular conversation that I thought you guys would appreciate...

Husband: Don't be mad but I'm bringing home free candy

Wife: I never get mad about candy... Don't be mad when I start calling in fat to work.

Husband: At least you're on salary.

Wife: Awesome! I'll totally be able to afford a rag and stick with which to wash myself!

Husband: The lady in the car behind me is reading a book and stuffing her face with chips.

Wife: See? That's how it starts...

 

So, yeah... free candy... ever had the big giant Kit Kat bar with the caramel inside? I had my first one yesterday... man... it was good!

Chemistry is fun!?!

Dear Husband,

I hope your Chemistry class this morning is half as fun as this... just half as fun... no way it could be as fun or greater than fun...

Inspiration...

Inspiration is a funny thing - I never know when it will hit... sometimes, I'm overwhelmed with project ideas, design ideas, little things that I want to try, etc...

Sometimes, nothing... which is frustrating...

I read my fair share of blogs and one of my favorites is Design Sponge.

Today, over at Design Sponge, they had an amazing profile on artist and photographer YeonDoo Jung.

YeonDoo collected thousands of children's drawings, picked his favorites, and staged full-scale photoshoots designed to bring each drawing to life...

I love that both of these artists were inspired to do their interpretation of work that already existed... it's so cool to see it through someone else's eyes!

What ever happened to...

...everyone's favorite Real People host, Peter Billingsley?

Well, turns out, Ralphie just happens to be a big shot Hollywood producer now!


As much as I love complete train-wreck, has-been, smoking-crack-with-the-dad-from-Alf kind of stories, I also enjoy an all-American rise to fame and success... and who knew Peter Billingsley would be the latter?

Seems like it all started when he was cast in an after school special with none other than Vince Vaughan. From there, he went on to produce many projects with Vaughan and his bff, Jon Fat-vreau... projects including Dinner for Five with Jon Fat-vreau, The Break-Up starring Jennifer Maniston and Vince Vaughan, and most recently... IRON MAN - directed by Jon Fat-vreau in which Peter executive produced and also had a roll.

Good for you, Peter Billingsley!

My favorite of the seven deadly sins... as a child, I was obsessed... I mean obsessed with the sloth and had all but forgotten of my love of them... until now...
